Writing for a living is living one of my dreams. That alone brings so much abundance into my life –the fact that the universe supports me and energies guide me is nothing shy of miraculous. And proof that drive and passion create a dynamic duo. Life is astonishing because I tell myself it is every morning. Living is a gift. Every day, whether I have an assignment or not, I am grateful to be where I am. A simple act like being grateful in my morning meditations allows me to have the freelance life that gives me goosebumps.
So what exactly am I thankful for? So many things. It’s not just about my freelance life, though. My gratitude comes from the fact that every morning I wake up, open my eyes, see the world around me, stretch my body, and breathe. Breath is the first thing I’m thankful for. The body is animated by breath and the will to live –and of course the spark of life, the electricity of Uranus proportions. I take moments throughout the day to study my breathing habits. What a joy to watch my body living.
The Pen –
Translating what the brain already knows or wants to know into ideas is magical. Gathering and interpreting data that’s been stored away into words is supernatural. Then add to that a heartfelt story or essay and planets collide and stars shine brighter than ever before. Everything seems to burgeon. The fact that I take thoughts and mold them into a story for others still amazes even me. I love creating for clients and helping them find a voice for their vision. The pen is a sword, indeed, so I must honor how I hold it.
Being a freelance writer is almost synonymous with freedom. I create my own schedule. There is an incredible amount of joy in watching myself be my own boss. The freedom I have almost makes me feels like I’m witnessing someone else’s journey. But no! It’s mine. Even when the freedom feels like too much or I get lost in it, I’m beyond thankful for it. My freelance life isn’t just about amassing clients or assignments. It’s more about having freedom to do what I want to do in any given week or month. Freedom to travel, learn, and be me.
